Shaft-Rotor Assembly
The shaft-rotor assembly consists of the shaft, the collector bar/contact fingers, the slider block, the rotor block and the wiper. Figure 11.4 shows the shaft-rotor assembly with the front lid.

The slider block is free to move back and forth along the rotor block. The wiper is centered between guides on the slider block. One end of the wiper makes mechanical and electrical contact with the collector bar. The other end of the wiper makes mechanical and electrical contact with the resistive element. The collector bar has contact fingers on the end, opposite the shaft, which ride on the collector ring.
