Envelopes

"Envelope" refers to the space outside the potentiometer that may be used to accommodate other nearby components. The customer may wish to attach other components directly to the terminals. Some factors to consider are:
  • The clamp band position in relation to the terminals
  • The position of additional terminals for taps
  • Any custom termination styles required
To avoid a mismatch for the intended space, it is best to define an envelope with a simple drawing or sketch as illustrated in Figure 11.17.
