RIVERSIDE, Calif. – June 11, 2001 -- Bourns, Inc.®, a leading manufacturer of electronic components and integrated solutions, today announced the launch of its Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) product line. Bourns obtained the GDT product line through the acquisition of the Communication Protection Product lines from Joslyn’s JESC Division.

The Bourns® GDT product line features industry leading 3-electrode balanced Triguard® and 5mm 2-electrode products. Our patented surtab grade failsafe design can be combined with various lead configurations to allow customers multiple applications with the industry’s lowest contact resistance in short circuit mode.

Bourns® GDTs can be used in many applications, including telecommunications, CATV/Broadband applications, RF antennas and equipment, consumer electronics, Printed Circuit Boards, Automotive and many more. All products exceed Telcordia, REA, IEEE, ITU-T and IEC specifications and requirements, and are UL recognized components.
Bourns® is launching the 2027 Series full size 2-Pole GDTs, the 2026 full size Series 3-Pole GDTs, the MSP Series Multi-Stage Protector, the 2035/2037 Series Miniature 2-pole GDT, the 2036 Series Miniature 3-Pole GDT and the 4010 and 4020 Surge Protector Test Sets. All 2-Pole GDTs are available from 90 to 600V, while the 3-Pole Series tubes are available from 75 to 600V Break Down Voltages.
Pricing and Availability
Bourns® GDT products begin under $1.00, depending upon size, configuration and electrodes. Sample quantities are available and are offered for evaluation. Current lead time on the GDTs is one to four weeks.
