RIVERSIDE, CA - December 4, 2003 - Bourns, Inc. is pleased to announce that its purchase of substantially all of the assets of Microelectronic Modules Corporation (MMC) was completed today. MMC had filed for protection under Chapter 11 of the Federal Bankruptcy Act in September 2002 due to the sharp downturn in its telecom business. On October 30, 2003, the Federal Bankruptcy Court in Milwaukee, Wisconsin designated Bourns as the approved bidder for the assets of MMC.

MMC, located in New Berlin, Wisconsin, manufactured surge protection modules for telecommunications applications and a variety of specialized modules on both ceramic and FR4 substrates for many industrial applications. MMC's chip on board assembly included chip scale, flip chip and ball grid array (BGA) processes.

According to Erik Meijer, VP of Circuit Protection for Bourns, this asset purchase extends Bourns current offering of solutions into the custom design hybrid market and further strengthens Bourns position as a leading supplier of devices and solutions for the circuit protection market throughout the world.
