RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Jan. 22, 2001 -- Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer of passive components, today announced the North American introduction of the Totally Integrated Surge Protector (TISP) Telecom Overvoltage Protection products as part of the Bourns product line. Bourns obtained the TISP® product line through the acquisition of Power Innovations, Ltd. in May 2000.
The TISP products are specially designed to provide protection for telecommunications equipment in instances where high voltages occur as a result of lightning strikes, power line crosses and a.c. switching. Under a system fault condition, the TISP limits overvoltages to a safe level, allowing all current to pass through it and protecting electronics from harmful voltages.

"Coupled with Bourns’ Multifuse® PPTC overcurrent protectors and Bourns’ Line-Feed Surge Resistor Networks, the TISP products offer telecom customers a more comprehensive total protection product line."
Providing design flexibility, TISP products are available in single, dual, triple and quadruple configurations. Fixed voltage protection ranges from 72 V to 400 V, and programmable voltage protection ranges to Ü120 V. With more than 400 product types, there is a TISP protection solution for every central office and consumer end-user application.
Bourns is currently launching the TISP in surface mount and through hole packaging options: –BJR, –DR, –LMR, –LMFR and –SL families, with more products to be launched later in the year.
Pricing and Availability
Based on quantities of 1000 pieces, the TISP products are priced from @body.30 to $1.76 per piece depending on the complexity of the part. Sample quantities are offered for evaluation.
