Bourns® Multifuse® Product Line is pleased to announce the introduction of the new MF-SMHT Series of high temperature polymer PTC resettable fuses. The MF-SMHT Series of resettable fuses is a specifically engineered product family designed for automotive applications. The characteristics of the product make it ideal for under the hood and wheel arch applications. These applications demand higher operating temperatures and the new MF-SMHT Series of polymer PTC resettable fuses can operate up to 125 °C, compared to 85 °C for standard PTC resettable fuse products. A second benefit of the higher operating temperature is the lower thermal derating factor compared to standard resettable fuse devices. This feature also makes the MF-SMHT Series an ideal solution for inside cabin automotive applications.
In general, components that are suitable for automotive applications must be able to withstand harsh operating environments. The MF-SMHT Series has been designed to withstand the following conditions:
- High temperatures and humidity
- High vibrations
- Load dump conditions
- Jump start conditions
- Salt spray
The MF-SMHT Series of resettable fuses is designed to be surface mounted and are offered with operating currents (Ihold) values of 1.36 A and 1.6 A. Customers requiring alternative operating currents are encouraged to work with the Bourns Automotive team to match product specifications to specific demands.
