RIVERSIDE, Calif. – July 30, 2001 – Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer of electronic components and integrated solutions, today announced the launch of the TISP7xxxH3SL, a monolithic telecom surge protector offering fully symmetrical protection between any combination of Tip, Ring or Ground lines.

Not only is the TISP7xxxH3SL guaranteed to withstand a range of international standard surges in any direction, such as 100A 10/1000, but it also has identical ratings for simultaneous surges on both Tip and Ring to Ground. The special package is pin compatible with competition modified TO-220, but is only two thirds of the height, making the TISP7xxxH3SL ideal for high density card-frames and compact equipments. Compliance with international lightning surge standards such as Telcordia GR-1089 CORE, FCC Part 68 and ITU-T K20/K21 is guaranteed, and the device is available in 16 voltage ratings to enable the closest possible protection to be achieved for protection voltages from 70 V to 400 V.
The TISP7xxxH3SL integrates three high current, bi-directional, voltage triggered thyristors in a single chip, ensuring matched performance and low differential capacitance. This monolithic approach also contributes to the space saving size of the TISP7xxxH3SL.

Along with Bourns' established overvoltage protectors, these new models protect sensitive telecom equipment from line surges caused by a.c. power or lightning disturbances by initially clamping the voltage surge, and then moving to a low voltage clamp state. The thyristors are optimized for a high holding current so that the clamp is released once the surge has cleared.

Parts are now available in bulk, and the TISP7xxxH3SL is priced at $1.75 for 1000 pieces. Sample quantities are offered for evaluation.
