Joining other product facilities in Bourns’ quest for excellence, the Networks Facility, located in Logan, Utah, has recently received QS-9000 certification. After receiving this accolade, all of Bourns’ manufacturing facilities now hold certification. The QS-9000 quality standard was started late in 1992 when Purchasing and Quality executives of the Big Three automakers met in Detroit and agreed to help themselves and their suppliers by replacing their individual quality system standards with a single set of Quality System Requirements. Bourns took several steps to achieve QS-9000 certification, including evaluating the system to determine the level of conformance and detecting any shortcomings via an external auditor. With the advanced level of quality system now in place, Bourns achieved QS-9000 certification. Bourns looks forward to the future and will be using the techniques from QS-9000 to improve their support functions throughout the world.
