RIVERSIDE, Calif., November 19, 2015 - Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components, today announced the extension of the voltage range of its popular high power TVS (PTVS) diode PTVS3 product series. The new 15 V bidirectional high current PTVS diodes are designed to meet the protection needs of DC power supplies and power management systems with 12 V batteries. Designated Model PTVS3-015C-TH, the latest high current bidirectional TVS diodes from Bourns offer bidirectional port protection meeting IEC 61000-4-5 8/20 μs current surge requirements. When compared to typical competing MOV technology, the use of Bourns' innovative silicon technology in the Power TVS products provides a lower clamping voltage under surge, greater performance stability and increased reliability.
"Based on customer demands, Bourns added the new lower 15 V PTVS model to our line-up giving exposed and/or harsh environment power supplies the protection they need," said Ben Huang, Product Line Manager at Bourns, Inc. "What makes these new devices ideal is that they exhibit an excellent surge response versus temperature where the maximum surge current at 150 °C exceeds 70 % of their rated value at 25 °C."
