Bourns Acquires Assets of Automotive Controls Division of SSI Technologies, Inc.

RIVERSIDE, Calif, June 23, 2006 – Bourns, Inc. is pleased to announce the acquisition of certain assets of the Automotive Controls Division of SSI Technologies, Inc., headquartered in Janesville, WI. Founded in the mid 1980’s, SSI has earned a solid reputation as a sensors and controls innovator and supplier to the global automotive industry. Terms were not disclosed.

Included in the sale are a variety of assets for the development and production of electric power steering, torque and position sensors and rotational speed sensors for ABS and electronic transmission applications. Bourns also extended employment offers to the employees in the SSI Automotive Controls Division. According to Jeff Pyle, Vice President and General Manager of the Bourns Automotive Division, this acquisition significantly strengthens Bourns position as a leading supplier of sensors and controls products and solutions for the worldwide automotive markets. Mr. Pyle said, "Bourns plans to continue to operate from the Janesville, WI Palmer Drive facilities, the engineering and sales offices in Novi, MI and the manufacturing plant in Chihuahua, Mexico."
