Bourns Adds GDT Technology Training Module to its In-Depth Online Training Library

Riverside, Calif., September 24, 2013 - Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components, today announced that it has added a new training module on Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) technology to its in-depth online training library. Developed to help engineers solve technical design issues and to select ideal application solutions, the new product training module provides a general overview of GDT technology and relevant industry standards. It also presents the broad portfolio of Bourns® GDT products that make ideal solutions for robust circuit protection in telecom, consumer, industrial, military/aerospace, alternative energy, transportation, medical and automotive applications.

Created as a helpful guide for the overvoltage circuit protection needs of today’s sensitive electronic equipment, Bourns’ new GDT training module examines in detail which devices specifically address the application, performance and cost requirements of a broad range industries and applications. Bourns offers six major GDT device families and 34 individual product series including a new line of Spactube™ Switching Spark Gap devices, acquired from Jensen Devices, AB. The new devices are designed specifically for voltage controlled switching of capacitive discharge circuits where a high energy, low loss and fast rate of switching performance are required.
